วิธีแก้: เปลี่ยนจาก "was" เป็น "were"
อธิบายหลักไวยากรณ์
ในประโยคนี้คำว่า "was" ใช้ผิดรูป/ผิดหลัก ต้องเปลี่ยนเป็น "were" จึงจะถูกต้องตามไวยากรณ์ เหตุผลทางไวยากรณ์: They ใช้ were ไม่ใช่ was เคล็ดลับจำง่าย ๆ: They/We/You = were, He/She/It = was เรื่องกาล (tenses) เป็นจุดที่คนไทยพลาดบ่อยที่สุด เพราะภาษาไทยไม่ผันคำกริยาตามเวลา แต่ภาษาอังกฤษต้องเปลี่ยนรูปกริยาให้ตรงกับช่วงเวลาที่พูดถึงเสมอ การสังเกตคำบอกเวลาในประโยคจึงช่วยให้เลือก tense ได้ถูกต้อง
